Langtang Ganja-la Pass Trek - 14 Days

Langtang Ganja La Pass trek is a very popular trekking route in Langtang trekking region and it is considered as a unique, wilderness and adventure and mysterious then other trekking reason apart from that it is Specially designed off the beaten trail that highlights the Langtang region of Nepalis and descendant of the Tibetan origin, still look like Tibetans. Langtang Ganja La pass trekking offers panoramic Himalayan views with beautiful Langtang valley and Helambu valley. Ganja la pass trek follows the alpine forests, rich flora and fauna and high altitude pasturelands. The attraction of the Langtang region is its closeness to Kathmandu and yet it's as wild as any Tibetan highlands. The northern parts of the area largely fall within the boundaries of Langtang National Parks. The main ethnic groups here are Sherpa and Tamang whose religious practices, languages and dress are much similar to those as Tibet. The forests in this region have moderate temperate, subalpine vegetation and diverse wildlife.

Ganjala Pass Trek, the trail explores a variety of natural splendours, from lush valleys alive with languor monkeys to the towering fir and rhododendron forests bursting with spring colour. The Langtang forests are also well known for their wildlife including red pandas, Himalayan black bears, and wild boar and for rare tree orchids and the colourful rhododendrons. Langtang Ganja La Trek can be the best trekking destinations for all those who enjoy natural landscape and distinct cultural practices along with biodiversity and medley snow-capped mountains view. Ganja La pass makes the trek to Langtang one of the challenging treks of Nepal with unfavourable weather condition so all supplies should be taken with us. Additionally, toward the end of the trip, you will also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of Tarke Gyang and Sermathang before moving back to Kathmandu.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel.

NAMESTE! Satellite Treks And Expedition heartily welcomes you to the Beautiful country Nepal. We will meet you at the International Airport Kathmandu. Our Companies Representative will be there holding placard on which either company or client's name will be printed just opposite of the arrival and ager your reception, we will transfer you to the hotel. After your arrival at the hotel, we fix the schedule for a short orientation meeting which gives you some general information about the trip and will you settle rest of the due payment at the same time. For this you have to be three copy of passport size photos, a copy of the passport and copy of travel insurance.

After breakfast we first get you familiar with the Kathmandu valley by taking you for sightseeing. We first take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the beautiful complex of palaces, temples, shrines and courtyards built by the ancient Nepali kings between the 12th and 18th century. We also take you to swyombhunath (Monkey Temple), Pasupatinath, and Boudhanath then after we will take you to Thamel – the vibrant tourist area with hotels, restaurants and outdoor shops. Briefing hotel where we will be discussing the technicalities of the trek. In the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner with cultural Dance. Overnight stay at Hotel

After breakfast we drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. Take Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we descent down to Syabrubesi for the overnight stay.

This is our first day of trekking today. Follow the Langtang Khola River. Pass through the dense forests. Cross several suspension bridges. We also pass by a tea houses. The trail goes up and down but it's not that challenging.

At Ghora Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, you might be able to catch a glimpse of white monkeys and local birds. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. Stay overnight at Tea House.

The trail winds through the village and climbs a ridge topped by a large chorten. It then climbs gradually past an impressive mani wall, crossing a stream to the small village of Mundu (3442m). After crossing several small streams with wooden cantilever bridges and moraines, you can finally see the monastery of Kyanjin Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from the peaks of Langtang Lirung and Kimshung. The surroundings are interesting also because of the famous Government operated Cheese factory. We have chance to test cheese and curd by Yak milk, it is remarkable of this place. After having lunch, we can explore the area with abundant panoramic views of Langtang Lirung (7246m), Genjempol, Kyangjin RI (4750m.), Tsergo RI (5000m.), Ganja la (5160m.), Langshisa- Ri (6427m.), Dorje Lhakpa (6430m.), Naya Kang (5844m.), Yala peak (5500m)

You can visit the monastery and cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Stay overnight at lodge.

Crossing the Langtang Khola below Kyanjin Gompa the trail makes a steep climb through a forest of rhododendron and juniper. The trail goes on ascending high Himalaya area covered with little natural vegetation. We must have to well manage for shelter and food by ourselves. Sometime we have scarcity of water and miss the group on the puzzle trail. Then the trail reaches the yak pasture of Ngegang, full of worth able breathtaking mountains scenery and pure of nature beauties. You can see Yaks peacefully grazing and spend your night at tented camp.

This day is comparatively strenuous as you need to cross the Ganja la pass which is covered by snowy ice throughout most of the year. Spend the night in camp. Your camping site will be inside the forest.

This day you will walk along a ridge and grassland with amazing views of Mountains. Stay overnight at lodge.

The trail descends about 200m. Views from the pass are spectacular to the Annapurna and Everest Regions. The trail then descends through pine and rhododendron forest, past a tiny herder’s settlement to Tarkeghyang. You can visit one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries and Sherpa villages. These villages are well-settled and are inhabited by friendly and cheerful natrured people. Stay overnight at lodge.

Today the trail is quite easy through flat land with beautiful forests. The trail leads us cross small forest with the view of beautiful village of Helembu region. The trail makes a sweep around the wide valley end between Parachin and Sherpa village of Gangyul of Khumbu region. Sermathang is another pretty Sherpa village where you can visit many ancient monasteries and view of Jugal Himal range. In the clear day the villages provide good views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosaikunda and Rolwaling; even Everest also in a distance.

On our final day of the trek, we walk down to Malemchi Pul Bazaar with many Sherpa village. From the Bazaar, catch a bus to Katmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening and overnight at Kathmandu hotel as per schedule itinerary.

This day is the last day for yours in Nepal as per your schedule. After breakfast and check out from the hotel we will take you to the airport.
