Langtang Gosainkunda Trek - 16 Days

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is specially designed with the combination of the remote and spectacular valley and diversified geographical land of Langtang. This trek takes you to one of the holiest lakes in the world which is especially religiously very important for Hindu people. Thousands of Hindu Pilgrims from Nepal, India and other country visit Gosainkunda to pay their homage to the holy Lake every year. More than for its religious value, people visit this place for its natural beauty and topographical studies. Maximum height in this trek is 4,610m from where one can enjoy the magnificent views of the great Himalayas. The trekking route is connected from Kathmandu to Rasuwa Dhunche and from Dhunche the trekking starts along the ridge, through Rhododendron and Juniper forests up to Gosainkunda Lake and back to Kathmandu.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu airport and Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.

NAMESTE! Satellite Treks And Expedition heartily welcomes you to the Beautiful country Nepal. We will meet you at the International Airport Kathmandu. Our Companies Representative will be there holding placard on which either company or client's name will be printed just opposite of the arrival and ager your reception, we will transfer you to the hotel. After your arrival at the hotel, we fix the schedule for a short orientation meeting which gives you some general information about the trip and will you settle rest of the due payment at the same time. For this you have to be three copy of passport size photos, a copy of the passport and copy of travel insurance.

After breakfast we first get you familiar with the Kathmandu valley by taking you for sightseeing. We first take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the beautiful complex of palaces, temples, shrines and courtyards built by the ancient Nepali kings between the 12th and 18th century. We also take you to swyombhunath (Monkey Temple), Pasupatinath, and Boudhanath .Briefing hotel where we will be discussing the technicalities of the trek. Overnight stay at Hotel.

After Breakfast you head to north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas Rasuwa Syabru Besi, passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. Stay overnight at lodge.

The first part of the trail crosses through the Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. The trail then gradually ascends up to Bamboo passing through the landslide area. Afterwards, you trek gently down to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. En-route you can see red pandas, monkeys and bears if you are lucky. Stay overnight at lodge.

From here few hours morning walk to Ghoretabela for lunch stop amidst lovely forest of pines, hemlocks and rhododendron from here onwards you can feel the altitude also.After a pleasant break here, trek continues on the trail to Langtang and its beautiful valley, the walk for an hour is pleasant in the cool shade of alpine woodland, after a small stream leaving the tree line behind the path leads uphill for an hour, then walk gets better on gradual trail with few ups and down to Langtang village for overnight stop.

After having breakfast, to reach Kyangjin Gompa, we have to pass through Mani wall and watermills. The best thing that this place has to offer is the views of Mt. Langtang Lirung and Mt. Ganchempo. You might be interested in visiting local Yak cheese factory, Kyangjin Monastry, and village houses. The night will be spent at Kyangjin Gompa.

From Kyangjin you retrace your route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Stay overnight at lodge.

We shall retrace our steps for a while, descending downhill through forests and Tamag villages to Lama Hotel. This return shall offer views of Himalayas we couldn't have view during our ascent. We will spend the night at Guest House.

After breakfast, we shall descend to river bank of Langtang Khola. After reaching Bamboo, we shall ascend to Landslide Lodge continuing our trek up to Thulo Syabru. Passing through waterfall and Pahare Hotel, we reach Thulo Syabru. We shall spend the night here.

The trail from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda (3200m.) follows a steeply ascending path passing through Dursagang (2660m.) and offers views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountains and oak, Hemlock and fir forests. The path then gently ascends for some distance before following a flat level to Sing Gompa. Stay overnight at Tea House.

Next morning, watching the spectacular views of Mt. Langtang, Annapurnas, Ganesh, Hiuchuli and Manaslu, we will mostly cover a ridge in today's trek. Through elevated village followed by wide trail, we reach Gosainkunda—the holy lake holding importance to both Hindu and Buddhist. We stay overnight at Gosainkunda.

This morning after breakfast, we ascend Laurebinayak Pass which is the starting of Helambu area. The route will be little tough as we will pass moraines, trek uphill, and cross three lakes. As the trail moves downhill to Phedi, stay overnight at Tea House

This day after breakfast our trek Until Tharepati, the trail ascends through forest of rhododendron, oak and bamboo with other natural vegetation. From Tharepati, to Kutumsang the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forest with good views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu. Stay overnight at Tea House.

A pleasant walk down to the Pathi Bhanyjyang goes through forests. A shorter day but with descends and climbs to Chisapani, where the view of the whole central Himalayas is breathtaking. We can see Himalayan range from Manaslu to Everest. Landscapes will be reflective in the evening and early morning hours.

After breakfast Leaving Chisopani, the trail passes through meadows and cultivated fields and then climbs through oak and rhododendron forest to Burlang Bhanjyang. From here there are magnificent views, from Annapurna in the west to Ganesh Himal and Numbur in the east. This ridge marks the northern rim of the Kathmandu valley. You now begin descending steeply through dense forest of oak, pine and rhododendron to cross a dam and then follow a large water pipe which supplies much of the water for Kathmandu. Soon you are down into Sundarijal where you pick up your transport back to Kathmandu.

This day is the last day for yours in Nepal as per your schedule. After breakfast and check out from the hotel we will take you to the airport.
