Manasalu Expedition -

The forecasting and initiation for the climbed of Manasalu Mountain was in 1986 by a Japanese Expedition team. Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world is a part of the Mansiri Himal in the Nepal Himalayas. The mountain’s long ridges and valley glaciers offer feasible approaches from all directions. This is a full-service expedition with a western guide-manager offering the best balance of quality and value. Manaslu has not previously extensively been offered as a commercial peak, however for the autumn season, it is the best alternative for the climb the mountain.

During this Adventure the team will be supported by a 1:2 Sherpa to climber ratio.  All our Team members can travel independently in groups or pairs lower on the mountain and will have Sherpas to accompany them at all times above camp three. All of our Sherpas are well experienced above 8000 meter and various have reached the summit of Manaslu.

  • Climbing Routes:
  • Manaslu expedition has many interesting routes leading to the common summit and many of them were climbed and explored. The standard commercial route is along the original route of the 1956 Japanese expedition up the Northeast face.
  • The climb is straightforward and only slightly more technical then Cho Oyu or Shishapangma, however, with low Base Camp it is a long climb and with relatively high objective avalanche risk.
  • Traditionally there are 3 camps above base camp C1 (5,500m), C2 (6,300m) and C3 (7,300 m). Some expeditions establish an intermediate camp between C2 and C3 at 6,700m. The terrain encountered on the ascents varies from glacier crossings to steep snow steps and requires a good understanding of basic alpine climbing techniques. Manaslu has been climbed Alpine style but traditionally all commercial operators practice expedition style to improve the chances of summit success for the clients.
